A sad moment to our house, Hunky our precious little kitty went to kitty heaven last night. She had never been the same since her spaying in March. Took her to the vet on April 15th for not eating and "not being herself" and they said pnuemonia. Gave her antibiotics and she never bounced back. She started eating and walking around and the girls got excited thinking she is getting better. She never had pnuemonia and with the spaying surgery, and anesthesia her liver just gave up. She was only 9 months old. :( But around 8 p.m. last night she had a seizure...Shaun took her to the 24 hour vet after me calling 2 different places, one saying "we won't see her unlesss you pay 85 dollars up front" then I called another....this lady had the most compassion in her voice and she said the doc will work with you on payments but your kitty needs to be seen right away, as I knew. Shaun brought her in and they said she had liver failure. It wasn't seizures, she was going crazy. Her gums were all yellow and her eyes were yellow as well, the vet said jaundice. It was a genetic disease that we couldn't help her in anyway. Shaun cuddled her and they gave her some valium and hunky relaxed. Shaun held her on a pillow until she fell asleep and didn't wake up. I was soo scared and confused. Shaun and I both made a pac that if she was to suffer then just let her go. Its almost like losing a child. We feel lost without her, Dory is confused as why there is only one food dish and her sister never came home last night. She followed Shaun around last night when he got home from the vet...looking for hunky. It was the sadest thing...She is still very thrown off. But atleast she isn't suffering anymore...as it makes me wonder if she was miserable. Hunky was very vocal yesterday and I think it was her way of saying good bye and she was done and couldn't fight anymore.
We will miss you little hunker bunkers. There will never be another kitty so soft and relaxed as you. She would have never scratched anybody and loved the kids. But you are in a better place and no more suffering. I am sorry you had to go so long...we tried to help you. We love you!
